Healing trauma from relationships with narcissists and borderlines and other personality disordered abusers isn’t a simple matter of just getting over it and letting go. However, some people have an easier time grieving and healing. There are several reasons for this.
Basically, it boils down to either having a high resiliency to trauma or low resiliency. Many of my clients with low resiliency to trauma share similar experiences. Specifically, they grew up in highly dysfunctional families of origin and experience parentification, emotional incest and other unhealthy pathology that caused them to develop codependency.
